Best Flights commenced trading in February 2001 and by 2005 had established itself as the largest independent travel company in the Southern Hemisphere. In September 2005 the company was purchased by Transonic Travel, whose origins date back to 1949 and who now employs over 1,000 personnel around the world. In July 2006 Transonic Travel was in turn purchased by the public company, S8, who in turn was purchased by Stella Travel Services/MFS.
