Cape Town to Victoria Falls from $1875.00
There are four "great waterfalls" in the world, the
lovely Niagara, the exquisitely beautiful Iguazu, the
cloud punching Angel and finally there is the mighty
Victoria Falls, known to locals as the "Smoke that
Thunders". Geckos run a 20 day tour of Southern Africa
that takes you from lovely Cape Town, through the
deserts of Namibia and the waterways of Botswana and
ending up at Victoria Falls, all on their custom-made
overland truck that carries up to 24 guests with a
accommodation being a mix of mainly camping along with
chalet and house boat.
Day one of your tour starts in the cosmopolitan city of
Cape Town and it's beautiful surrounds and a visit to a
local vineyard in the wine land region. From the Cape
you travel up the West Coast of South Africa to Orange
River and Fish River Canyon, en-route you will pass
through Namaqualand and if your there at the right time
of the year (Spring) you will see the most amazing
wildflower show this side of Western Australia,
botanists from around the globe flock to this arid
region on the edge of the Kalahari to see the profusion
of colour that Spring brings to the desert. Enjoy an
optional Kayak at Orange River or alternatively save
your energy for walk at the second largest canyon in the
world, Fish River Canyon. After your day walking depart
Fish River Canyon and head north through the great Namib
desert to the Namib-Nuakluft National Park, an area that
has some of the world's highest sand dunes (up to 300
metres high). After an exhausting day climbing the dunes
you will be driven to the weirdest of all towns in
Africa, Swakopmund, think of a Bavarian town with
Bavarian architecture (circa 1900), Bavarian brewery
(serving Weiss Beer), Bavarian cuisine (Bratwurst et al)
and where everyone speaks German...now put that Bavarian
town on the edge of the Namib desert, on the southern
Atlantic Ocean, with it's nearest city being 222
kilometres away and you have one hell of an odd place!
Travel further north to Cape Cross on the Skeleton Coast
to sea the seals before turning inland to the Bushmen
area of Spitzkoppe and Namibia's best game viewing park,
Etosha.
Depart Etosha and head east along the banks of the
Okavango River to Botswana. Botswana is regarded by many
safari aficionado's to be the best game viewing country
in Africa, in particular you will visit the renowned
Okavango Delta, an immense flood plain that teems with
birdlife and all the animals that you have ever dreamed
of seeing; lion, cheetah, giraffe, elephant, leopard,
hippo, zebra, wild dog, hyena, the list goes on and
on...Once you have enjoyed this fantastic biosphere you
will be taken to another of Botswana's great parks -
Chobe. Chobe is undoubtedly most famous for its
elephants, if you don't manage to see any here then you
are more than probably asleep!
Finally your tour ends at the Zambezi River and the
mighty Victoria Falls. It is very rare to be on a tour
that ends up with such a breathtaking finale, which is
one reason why this 20 day Geckos trip is a definite

BEST TASHES: Raising Money for the Orang Utans
The 29th July was the inaugural
Best Tashes day at Best Flights.
There was a competition between
the male staff members as to who
could grow the best moustache in
the office.
The event raised $500 for the
Orang Utans at Camp Leakey in
Borneo and was taken to the camp
personally by one the country's
number one Orang Utan fans, who
works in our service centre.
We have featured pictures of the
finalists, including one
gentleman who could not actually
grow a tash on his upper lip ...
so grew one on his head instead,
all in the name of charity!
