Adventure Tour of the Week
Kenya Unveiled - 7 days - from $795
We have a great introductory safari to East Africa to
offer this week, focusing on the great Rift Valley lakes
region of Kenya. The superb game parks of Masai Mara,
Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria which provides countless
wildlife and bird life experiences whilst the freshwater
lakes of Naivasha and Baringo provide the additional
opportunity to view some of the largest concentrations
of bird life in the world.
The safari begins with the vast open grasslands of Masai
Mara, which plays host to some of the greatest
concentrations of wildlife in the world. The first
afternoon is spent enjoying game viewing on the way to
the camp and then we have a full day exploring the
reserve on the second day of the tour.
On the 3rd day we head to Lake Naivasha to set up camp.
Lake Naivasha is one of the Rift Valley’s freshwater
lakes and is home to an incredible variety of bird
species. We visit Elsamere the home of Joy Adamson, who
wrote Born Free, to see the cheeky colobus monkeys who
reside here. In the morning there is time for optional
activities such as a boat trip, bike ride or guided walk
in a nearby sanctuary before the short drive to Lake
Nakuru National Park.
After reaching Lake Nakuru, we take an afternoon game
drive before camping overnight within the park. The
following day you can enjoy a full morning game driving.
Contrastingly the shallow alkaline lake that forms the
centrepiece of Lake Nakuru National Park attracts
millions of flamingos which form a seething carpet of
pink across the lakes surface. There is much more to the
park than the lake and the area is particularly well
known for its white rhino and leopard numbers.
After Lake Nakuru we drive north to Lake Baringo where
camp is beautifully situated on the banks of the lake.
At Baringo you have the freedom to wander in the local
area, enjoying the abundant bird life and great scenery.
Lake Baringo, Kenya’s other freshwater lake, offers
superb brid watching as more than 480 of Kenya’s 1200
bird specie have been sighted here. We take a day trip
to nearby Bogoria National Reserve and Kesubo Swamp.
Lake Bogoria offers a fitting finale to this rich
safari, offering a great mix of bird life, and wildlife
with an added attraction of hot springs and geysers
included!
The last day on tour is spent travelling down to Nairobi
passing a stunning tapestry of landscapes arriving into
Nairobi in the afternoon.
