Coach Tour of the Week

Globus; Best of Hawaiian Islands - 9 day tour from $2779.00

Aloha! You will be greeted in Honolulu the traditional way with a warm welcome and a lei. At your hotel, you will then get to meet your travelling companions and your tour director for the next nine days at a Welcoming Reception, which promises fun and fine food.

Day two starts with a breakfast get together with your tour director and then time to do what ever your heart desires, perhaps laze in the sun or, be a bit more adventurous and give surfing a try. I would thoroughly recommend taking up the optional excursion to The Polynesian Cultural Centre where you can learn about the authentic island arts and crafts, as well enjoying a buffet dinner and a fabulous Polynesian show.

Now I’m sure you’ve all seen the movie but on day three it is now time to see the real thing… Pearl Harbour. This day will surely move you with a visit to the USS Arizona, the memorial and the museum. The afternoon sightseeing will then take you on to Chinatown, Hawaii’s state capitol, the royal Lolani Palace and the statue of King Kamehameha (try saying that really quickly 5 times!). Indulge with some Hawaiian cocktails on your optional sunset dinner cruise with spectacular views of the Waikiki coastline and Diamond Head.

On day four you will fly to Kona and start off with an informative visit to the Kona Coffee Living History Farm. Spend the afternoon sipping cocktails by the pool at your ocean front resort. A fiery day five awaits with a visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. See Kilauea Crater before lunch at the Volcano House. Then travel back along the Hamakua Coast through Parker Ranch to your hotel.

The following day is a totally free day - have a sleep in and then potter around the resort if you like or, take an optional helicopter flight for a magnificent view of the lava flow at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy a traditional luau in the evening, complete with Polynesian dancers and musicians.

You will begin day seven with a flight to Kahului on Maui aka “The Valley Island”. See the spectacular volcanic spire of Iao Needle in the lush Iao Valley then it's on to Lahaina and the resort area of Kaanapali, where you will be staying for the next two nights. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. Perhaps start a spelling bee and test your fellow travelling companions on the names of all of the fabulous places you’ve seen so far!

The morning of day eight is dedicated to Haleakala National Park. To us regular folk, this is the site of the huge volcanic Haleaka Crater, it’s known as “The House Of The Sun” to the islanders. Depending on the season. A humpback whale watching cruise could be on the cards for the afternoon, followed by your farewell dinner.
