EASY PACE SPAIN & PORTUGAL From $2775.00

On arrival in Portugal you will receive a complimentary transfer to your hotel from Lisbon airport, relax or explore & enjoy a welcome drink before dinner with your fellow travellers. The next day enjoy a sightseeing guided tour through the city and Jeronimo’s Monastery. See the modern “Monument to the Discoveries” a statue dedicated to the intrepid explorers who discovered uncharted lands for the Portuguese Empire and then visit ancient Belem an area of Lisbon steeped in maritime history. Finish the afternoon at leisure in one of the many local cafes or take to the shops for some Iberian Shopping Therapy. In the evening hit the lively bars and restaurants and there is no need to worry about having a hangover as the next day of your trip is at your own leisure to discover, or recover, which ever it may be!

Day four and you're off over the modern Tagus Bridge and across the Alentejo Plateau to the Spanish border. Continue over the green slopes of the Sierra Morena to Seville, the beautiful capital of Andalusia - regarded by many to be the most romantic city in Europe (though I’m sure the citizens of Florence would dispute this?). Spend the following day in Seville visiting such sites as the 15th Century cathedral and burial place of Christopher Columbus, the incredible Moor palace the “Alcazar” and Giralda Tower. Also you will take a tour of the Santa Cruz Quarter. In the evening perhaps check out the Tapas & Flamenco Bars that this city is renowned for, the following day is at leisure so make the most of the late night street life in Seville. On day seven you will depart Seville for the Moorish city of Cordoba. See the 2000-year old bridge before a tour of the city’s most famous attraction the exquisite Mezquita, an 18th century Mosque with possibly the most photographed architectural interior…the red and white marbled arches. Depart Cordoba and cross the Sierra Morena Mountains and plains of Don Quixote’s La Mancha, to Madrid. If it’s food you love then Madrid maybe your Mecca, in the evening you will enjoy a highlight dinner in a local restaurant where you can taste some of the local Castilian specialities imbued with a classic Rioja. Your next day is spent exploring the massive Plaza Espana, the Cibeles Fountain and Puerta del Sol. Enjoy a trip to Parliament and the Royal Palace before a highlight visit to the Prado Museum, one of the greatest art galleries in Europe, nobody should ever miss the Ufizi (Florence), Hermitage (St Petersburg), Louvre (Paris) and the Prado in Madrid. It’s a simple as that. Your final day in Madrid is at leisure, or you can take in an optional tour to the Guadarrama Mountains for a change of scenery.

Day ten and you leave the capital of Spain for the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona. Enroute see the Castile where Don Quixote “tilted at windmills” and the Ebro River Zaragosa where the Virgin appeared to St James the Apostle. The next day is spent in the Gothic quarter where you can see the ancient cathedral. Your city tour then travels to the Eixample District to see Gaudi’s architecture & the magnificent Sagrada Familia Cathedral. Stroll along the famous Ramblas & pick up a bargain in its market stalls. If “people watching” is your thing then Barcelona has the best cafes to sit at and watch the beautiful people stroll by - it’s busiest around Barcelona at midnight. The next day you can kick back and take it easy as you have a day at leisure and later on in the evening enjoy a highlight Catalan dinner at a local restaurant. Finally on day thirteen your tour finishes and you are transferred to the airport for your flight home - and maybe catch-up on a little sleep on the plane after a great time in Portugal and Spain.
